Stephen Strasburg (RHP, WAS) won’t let a torn vestigial plantaris tendon in his calf keep him from starting the season on time. While Strasburg insisted it was fine (“[The doctor] said if we still walked on all fours, you might need it. But you don’t need it anymore”), you might be excused if you couldn't immediately put your concerns aside when “ruptured [body part]” and the name Strasburg came anywhere near each other. He was able to work his way up to 98 pitches in his final spring training tune-up without incident. The outing wasn’t pristine by any means (5.3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3K), but if you’re looking for a silver lining, all three strikeouts came on the last three batters.
