Having the MLB’s second-worst record through 147 games and dwelling at the bottom of the NL West standings can hardly have been what the Giants had in mind heading into the 2017 season. Nevertheless, given their current roster construction—i.e., without many team-friendly contracts that would allow them to rebuild the way some teams have—the Giants will likely give it another run while franchise faces like Madison Bumgarner (LHP, SF) and Buster Posey (C/1B, SF) are still at/near their prime.
