Cubs sign Imanaga to four-year deal

NEWS: Chicago agreed to terms with LHP Shōta Imanaga on a 4-year, $53 million contract.

BHQ SPIN: Chicago bolstered its rotation with the addition of the 30-year-old Imanaga, who is coming off of an impressive season (159 IP,  2.66 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 188 K, 24 BB) in 24 starts for the Yokohama Bay Stars. Barring another signing, Imanaga is expected to join Justin Steele, Kyle Hendricks, and Jameson Taillon as pitchers considered locks for Chicago’s opening day rotation, leaving one rotation spot unsettled. At the moment, it appears that Jordan Wicks, Javier Assad, Drew Smyly, and Hayden Wesneski, who all spent time in Chicago’s rotation during portions of the 2023 season, will enter camp stretched out...
