NEWS: San Francisco signed right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks to a four-year, $44M deal that includes incentives based on innings totals.

BHQ SPIN: Following five big league seasons used almost exclusively as a reliever, Hicks was being considered as a closer for multiple franchises. The Giants, however, have different plans, as they want to try Hicks as a starter. The Giants seem to view starters and relievers not as separate beings, but place them under the same moniker - pitchers. Hicks could be used as a traditional starter, an opener, a high-leverage reliever, a bulk reliever, or a fireman that appears when needed most, but they’re expected to try him out at the beginning of ballgames to...
