RESEARCH: Are Matched pairs a viable option?

Last year in an early season industry draft, I found myself at the turn and took Dee Gordon and Giancarlo Stanton. It seemed like a good move at the time. I hoped to get a combined 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases from the pair with a matched amount of Runs and RBIs. While the actual season results were horrible, I tried to mold two differently-skilled players into a five-category contributor.

When I decided to take on this subject for an article, I figured it would be an easy concept to describe and walk through. But it truth, it isn’t. The problem is that a nearly perfect storm needs to be in place to pull it off successfully. It is often forced.
