RESEARCH: Comparison of drafted stats to final totals

You can’t win a league at the draft but you can lose it. We’ve all read this cliché, it’s classic writer-speak. But have you ever wondered about how much a strong draft or auction contributes to winning? What follows is a comparison of statistics generated assuming opening day rosters remained the same all season to actual final totals. The objective will be to identify trends that can be woven into auction or draft strategy, in an effort to increase odds of winning.
BACKGROUND
Data from Tout Wars will be analyzed. Included will be American and National League only and 15-team Mixed League auctions from 2010-2014. The American and National League only auctions are all 12 teams, except the 2010-2012 National League (13 teams). In 2013...
