RESEARCH: Team saves from team wins

There’s a longstanding debate in fantasy over what kind of MLB teams generate saves.
On one side, some fantasy owners think good MLB teams generate more wins, and therefore more saves.
On the other side, some owners think that poor MLB teams, even if their overall wins totals are lower, are likelier to have more of the close wins that generate save opportunities. Good teams, these owners argue, have more of the comfortable “blowout” wins that don’t provide save opportunities.
OK, the Oxford Union is not on standby about this. But we looked at the situation anyway, and have come to the conclusion that the good-team side is probably more correct than the poor-team side in this debate. But it is far from a betting certainty.
