RESEARCH: The value of starts

Most fantasy owners are familiar with the “maximize your at-bats” roster strategy famously used by successful expert-league participants. The idea is that by getting a ton of ABs, you naturally just fall into counting stats like runs and RBI.
Owners might realize similar advantages using a similar strategy for rostering starting pitchers, by maximizing likely starts.
Even an owner pursuing a strategy of limiting IP or getting LIMA-type relievers can benefit from pitchers who get a lot of starts. At a minimum, such pitchers will provide more Ks than most pitchers with fewer starts (making allowances for the occasional Craig Kimbrel or Aroldis Chapman) and on a decent team are also somewhat more likely to amass wins.
