Aaron Nola took for the mound Friday night for the Phillies Double-A Reading affiliate. Nola is the most advanced of the five young starters that make up the Reading rotation. He was selected number seven overall in the 2014 draft from LSU, and given the current state of the Phillies MLB starters (Cole Hamels and, well ….), it's a foregone conclusion that once he's ready, he'll get a shot at an MLB job, likely sometime later this season.

Part of the reason for the optimism is that Nola possesses a polished and well-crafted game. Though his fastball is not overpowering (89-93 mph in this outing), he commanded it with ease, especially...
