Buying into prospect hype is the number one cause of bad farm systems. For writers and evaluators, it's easy to fall in love with every prospect seen. An evaluator's experience level and natural biases should always be taken into an account when reading an overly positive scouting report. A lot of writers and evaluators also rely on information obtained by trusted sources. Sometimes, an in-person look is unavailable. A trusted source, whether it's a fellow writer or a scout, help bridge gaps for evaluators, especially looking at a farm system as a whole.
