Brown working cutter, Waldron ramps up sweeper

Hunter Brown ramps up cutter usage and cuts down four-seam fastball.  

With an 11.84 ERA and 5.00 xERA in five April starts, the results were not there for Hunter Brown (RHP, HOU). His results have improved since then, as he posted a 3.42 ERA in four May outings, and he has a 3.60 xERA in 2024. 

When looking at his arsenal, what changes is Brown making? 

 

As seen in the graph above, Brown has cut his four-seam fastball usage from 39.4% in April to 26.3% in May. In three June starts, he's increased his cutter usage to 26%. He's throwing his sinker, knuckle curve, and cutter more often.
