BATTERS: Early-season extreme performances

Let's continue our look at notable early-season performances by attempting to validate the extreme hot or cold starts posted by hitters after the first two weeks of the season.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Lorenzo Cain (CF, KC) is one of just two bats with 2+ HR and 4+ SB over the season's first two weeks. And his quick start might not be a mirage. Check out his strong underlying skills: 10% bb%, 83% ct%, 162 PX, 112 BPV. His walk and contact rates and batting eye are better now than they've ever been before. He's also hitting more line drives (31% LD%) and has a higher hard contact rate (101 HctX) than he's posted in a long time. Finally, he has added 35 feet of batted ball distance from 2014 to 2015. It's way too early to expect him to keep up...
