BATTERS: Making the LIMA Grade

The LIMA Plan may take its name from the late Jose Lima, owing to the fact that the strategy is built around finding skilled but inexpensive pitching. But the plan hinges on identifying the right hitters to roster. Saving money or resources on affordable, high-upside arms means nothing if those resources are allocated to batters without the right skills. This is a refresher for fanalytic veterans, but the key components for an ideal LIMA hitter are:

  • bb% of 10% or higher
  • ct% of 80% or higher
  • PX or Spd of 100+ 

So which players are this season's LIMA gems? According to the 2013 Baseball Forecaster, the following chart lists the strongest candidates possessing a blend of the skills outlined above:
