BATTERS: Stop Tinkering!—Part 2: the drops

While some early season acquisitions can move the needle and provide a boost to a roster that lasts all season, most are far less beneficial because the players being added do not have the skills to back up their hot starts. Yet it is inaccurate to say that these early roster moves have little impact because the marginal players being added are just one side of the equation. The ugly truth is that these low upside transactions often prove costly on the backend as more familiar players with legitimate skills are dropped to make room for these flavors of the week.
