BATTING: First look at high-variance batters

As we head down the stretch, most fantasy owners essentially have their hands tied. Trade deadlines have passed, roster expansion has happened, and now we all have to ride the horses whut brung us this far. Even if our steeds are swaybacked nags headed for the glue factory.

Since we can’t do much to manage the balance of the year, we can start looking ahead. And in this edition of the BBG, we’ll specifically look at batters through the lens of Ron Shandler’s “Extreme Regression Drafting” (XRD), which looks for players to regress from unusual seasons in 2012 to regress to more “normal” outcomes in 2013.

The trick, of course, is figuring out what qualifies as “an unusual season.” Not to mention what is “normal.”
