BATTING: Six scuffling sluggers still sporting solid skills

At this time of the year, fantasy owners are often looking to trade for power boosts.

Sometimes, it's possible to take advantage of fellow owners’ susceptibility to Recency Bias, the tendency to overweight performance in the most recent time periods.

So we thought we’d look at batters who might present buy-low opportunities—not because their overall seasons are poor, but because they’ve been scuffling since the all-star break, and might therefore be frustrating impatient or inattentive owners.

Method

To assess the situation, we first assembled a list of all the HR hitters whose first-half (1H) performance met these criteria:

  • HR per 650 PA (HR650) of 23 or higher
  • Slg over .450
