RELIEVERS: 2017 Sleepers

Today we are looking at sleepers. In this context, we define sleepers as someone who has skills that far outstretch the current role, and where there may be an opportunity to jump up the ladder quickly due to skills inequities within a given pen, thus providing quick profit. This year, there appear to be more of these in NL bullpens than in AL bullpens.

Oakland provides us with the first sleeper—Sean Doolittle (LHP, OAK):

This column covers relievers who might cost you a lot chasing saves but then fizzle out because of skills or injury risk.

This is the annual sleepers column, but let's be honest: There are no sleepers. There are relievers with great skills who are cheaper than they should be ... and that's what you want anyway.
