Beltran lands in St. Louis

The Cardinals and Carlos Beltrán (OF, STL) have agreed to terms on a two-year deal. After missing significant time due to injuries in both 2009 and 2010, Beltran stayed relatively healthy in 2011 and racked up 520 at-bats. While his speed is long gone, his PX spiked back up to 156 and his hit rate rebounded, resulting in 22 home runs and a .300 batting average. While he shouldn't be counted on to maintain that PX or at-bat total, the rest of Beltran's BPIs have remained extremely steady over the past few seasons. As long as he can stay healthy, Beltran should add some much-needed punch to the St. Louis lineup.
