The White Sox almost got through the start of the 2021 season with each of their five starting pitchers taking their turn twice, until #5 starter Carlos Rodón (LHP, CHW) had his April 12 start pushed back two days due to a stomach virus. (In hindsight, that decision worked out quite well, since Rodón pitched a no-hitter on April 14.) Fellow lefty Dallas Keuchel (LHP, CHW) picked up the slack by stepping in for Rodón on April 12, as the extra off-days in the April schedule gave Keuchel his regular five days of rest between starts. 

Keuchel’s actual ERA has been below his xERA every year since 2017, but he has not been so lucky in the early going this season. More walks (seven) and more home runs (two) in 14 innings may...
