PT TOMORROW: AL East—Britton hitting stride ... just in time to be dealt

Baltimore Orioles

Now that the All-Star break has arrived, expect the Orioles to step up their efforts to find new homes for their free-agents-to-be.

One of those is Zach Britton (LHP, BAL), who notched his second and third saves of the season this past week and has now strung six straight scoreless inning-long appearances. In other words, he is rounding into form just in time to convince contenders he can help.

Now that Darren O’Day (RHP, BAL) is out for the season, it might be a natural assumption that the Orioles will play out the string with Brad Brach (RHP, BAL) again assuming the closer role. However, he too is a free-agent-to-be and thus could be a trade target, albeit one that will fetch a more modest package than Britton.
