As noted in Playing Time Today recently, Alec Asher (RHP, BAL) got the call the first time the Orioles needed a fifth starter.

While Asher reportedly only got the call because the Orioles’ opponent, the Blue Jays, feature a righty-heavy lineup, Asher acquitted himself quite well: 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 5 K.

That may well be enough to keep him ahead of Jayson Aquino (LHP, BAL) as the team’s sixth starter, despite Aquino tossing a gem in his most recent start for AAA-Norfolk April 14 (6 IP, one unearned run, 0 BB, 8 K).
