The mystery as to who will close games for the Blue Jays continues, though Brett Cecil (LHP, TOR) is off to a less-than-ideal start in his attempt to claim the role. Cecil is dealing with inflammation in a rotator cuff muscle that will reportedly keep him sidelined for at least a week.

Even before the injury surfaced, manager John Gibbons had expressed ambivalence about Cecil getting the ball in the ninth. Gibbons was quoted in one local news outlet saying that Cecil “could do it” but “might not.”

He also hinted at a job-sharing arrangement—ostensibly between Cecil and Aaron Sanchez (RHP, TOR), who still is a contender for a rotation slot as well, though his initial spring outing did not go all that well (1 1/3 IP, 4...
