Chris Iannetta (C, LAA) has started five of LAA's first seven games catcher, thanks to a fine pre-season—.289/.440/.658 line over 38 AB, with 3 HR and a 9/8 BB/K. The Angels are hoping that Iannetta's spring is an extension of his turn to contact lenses last July and furious 2013 2H finish, both noted here in early March. But his 2-for-18 (through Monday) regular season start reminds us that Iannetta's current grip on the catching job is tenuous. Though historically he has always shown terrific patience with occasional power, he has not hit well since leaving Coors Field—and both his sub-par ct% and his career struggles against RHPs (.227 career BA ) are well-documented.
