The rotation injuries and issues have  been previously chronicled in this space, but an update to this volatile situation is in order. As discussed in this week's WatchList column, newly-acquired veteran Wandy Rodriguez (LHP, TEX)—7 IP, 2 runs, 10/0 K/BB at AAA Round Rock after two starts, one rain-shortened—is positioned to get the next call. The most likely opening is the unsettled #5 spot from which Anthony Ranaudo (RHP, TEX) made his MLB debut last week and was unable to get out of the second inning vs. LAA. Ranaudo will get more opportunities, perhaps just not immediately. Despite his past good work and a fine spring, Rodriguez's age (36), declining Dom and health, and increasing gopheritis make him a poor bet to last...
