RELIEVERS: AL West—first look at 2014

This week we examine the AL West relievers, starting with A for Astros.

Houston should be "p" for putrid this season. With their rebuild well underway, the pen is going to be neglected for a few more years. Rule 5 success story Josh Fields (RHP, HOU) emerged late as the closer after Jose Veras (RHP, DET) was dealt and Chia Jen Lo (RHP, HOU) was awful. Given the array of possibles for 2014, expect open tryouts to ensue in February. Skills:

HOU SV IP Dom Cmd hr/9 xERA G/F BPV
=================  == ==== ==== ==== ==== ==== ===== ===
J.Fields            5 33.0  9.3  2.4  2.2 3.93 39/48  81
Ambriz              2 36.3  6.7  1.9  2.0 4.65 46/34  51
