RELIEVERS: NL Central—First look at 2014

This week we examine the NL Central relievers, starting with the Cubs.

The Cubs are still in rebuild mode, but the future looks very bright, though it might not surface until 2015. In the meantime, the closer role went from wild Carlos Marmol (RHP, LA) to Kyuji Fujikawa (RHP, CHC) who got hurt to Kevin Gregg (RHP, CHC) who performed far above expectations (and skill set). Blake Parker (RHP, CHC) and Pedro Strop (RHP, CHC) join the stable with decent, albeit volatile skill sets. James Russell (LHP, CHC) is a credible lefty. Skills:

CHC SV IP Dom Cmd hr/9 xERA G/F BPV
=================  == ==== ==== ==== ==== ==== ===== ===
Gregg              29 55.0  7.7  1.6  0.8 4.51 38/39  26
Parker              1 40.0 10.4  3.3 ...
